A Toppling Catastrophe

There are few things in life more profound than the loss of control of our fate that we experience when, after we set our coffee down and a moment later are reaching for it, we realize that the cup has been set upon a thick headphone cable and is thus precariously tilted. It hasn’t fallen, and for that we're relived, but it could easily have, and only dumb, idiotic, unintelligent, meaningless luck has saved us from the grief and embarrassment of a toppling catastrophe.
